Rainbows of Affliction
I created a blueprint
in a ruby red notebook
on an apricot shaded
school bus.
Made to believe that the
earth is gorgeous green,
When I live in one shade
of blue.
My blood is still violet
on the inside
But my lipstick’s gram
pink
When you scrape your
paintbrush across my canvas
They beat me until I was black
and blue.
I bled maroon.
The color of egg shell
white puss was seeping out of my sores
To deflect so suddenly at
the thunder storm
To only become a slave to
lightning strikes
I am afraid of sidewalks,
side streets and side
glances.
They referred to me as a fly
on the wall
but I thought that bitch
had wings
and I never once felt
like I could fly.
But instead they snipped
my wings before they sprouted.
Held down by layers of
affliction
I’ll create a
thunderstorm
and they’ll bend to my
whim.
I’ll walk with a switch
and we’ll switch roles.
